The San Miguel MetOpera Trust, A.C. (SMMT) was incorporated in Mexico in June, 2019 for the purpose of ensuring that the very best young Mexican opera singers achieve standing in the international opera world that is equal to their talent. The Trust provides opportunities for these singers to be heard by the most important decision-makers in the opera world and then assists them as they begin to build an international career. The Trust underwrites the annual auditions of the Mexico District of the Metropolitan Opera National Council , held in San Miguel de Allende, GTO, underwrites the Mexico District’s Prelude Coaching Program , and mentors its winners as they navigate the challenges of making a larger footprint for Mexico on the world opera map.
